Cortis & Sonderegger
Photographic still lifes and other simulations of reality
An extended interview with Jojakim Cortis (*1978) and Adrian Sonderegger (*1980)
FFV: As the maquette of this publication suggests, the
layout is supposed to represent a work in progress. The
overlaying of images on top of each other refers to the
superimposition of historical fragments, to the procedure
of selecting what is historically significant, and to the
resulting misrepresentation of history.
AS: It was intentional to make our first publication
resemble a newspaper as the majority of the images we
use originate and are communicated or conveyed through
print media. And ultimately through their dissemination in
this way, an image becomes iconic.
